UCLA Launches “100 Years of Safety” Campaign: Honoring Legacy, Inspiring the Future
UCLA marks 100 years of campus safety with a new film by award-winning filmmaker Addison Sandoval.
As UCLA marks its centennial, the university is celebrating another vital achievement—one hundred years of campus safety. To honor this legacy, UCLA has launched the “100 Years of Safety” campaign, highlighted by the release of the documentary One Hundred Years Of Safety.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Addison Sandoval, the documentary brings to life UCLA’s evolution in safety practices. Through archival footage and striking storytelling, it traces the university’s journey from its earliest protocols to modern approaches that prioritize both security and well-being.
A Century of Growth and Community Commitment
The film outlines pivotal developments in campus safety and spotlights the collective effort required to protect and support the Bruin community. Rather than presenting these efforts as mere policy shifts, the documentary reveals how safety has become a shared responsibility—rooted in UCLA’s culture and identity.
Sandoval, an MFA graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with festival accolades to his name, uses his narrative strength to transform UCLA’s historical milestones into a compelling visual narrative. The result is a film that both educates and inspires dialogue.
The “100 Years of Safety” campaign includes on-campus events, initiatives, and opportunities for reflection, encouraging students, alumni, staff, and faculty to contribute to the ongoing conversation about community safety and well-being.
